We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team at Wiegel. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting programs on CNC machines to produce precision metal parts and components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret prints and drawings to determine manufacturing processes and tool requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering to review machining requirements and 3D machined components.
- Program, edit, and rewrite CNC controls, and perform off-line programming as needed.
- Select, check, sharpen, and replace cutting tools and electrodes as required.
- Manufacture or select work holdings and fixtures, and perform mechanical tasks including loading and unloading vices, fixtures, and parts.
- Establish and set tool offsets, and set up and manufacture parts from raw material to completion.
- Measure in-process parts to conform to blueprint, customer requirements, and tolerances.
- Trim or de-burr parts to customer specification, and identify, use, and interpret calibrated metrology devices for piece-part inspection.
- Count, mark, and pack parts, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Review work orders to organize and optimize daily work, and receive and understand written and oral instructions.
- Communicate with team members and management, and follow company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Four to five years of trade school, vocational education, related work experience, or apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use a variety of lathes, drill presses, and equipment, and read and understand blueprints, Piece Prints, and GDT.
- Advanced math skills, including calculation of feeds, speeds, and distances, print conversion, and geometry.
- Understanding of machining properties of various raw materials, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others, and interface with customers, management, suppliers, and other employees.
Working Conditions:
- Sedentary position with occasional exposure to loud noises, dust, solvents, coolants, and oils.
- Ability to travel by various public and private transport methods.
- 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
- Use of hands 100% of the workday, and ability to stand or walk 25% of the workday.
