Job Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring that a designated number of passenger staterooms, officer accommodations, communal spaces, and work areas are kept in pristine condition and serviced promptly. The goal is to provide these areas with necessary supplies, company literature, and amenities that guarantee the utmost satisfaction of both passengers and crew members.
Key Responsibilities
- Introduce yourself to passengers and explain the services you will provide during their stay.
- Learn and use passenger names in daily interactions to enhance the guest experience.
- Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in compliance with all applicable guidelines.
- Thoroughly clean passenger and officer staterooms daily, including private balconies.
- Report any maintenance issues in assigned staterooms or public areas promptly.
- Properly stock and manage cleaning carts as directed.
- Place necessary information and amenities in passenger staterooms.
- Stay informed about cruise events and programs to assist passengers effectively.
- Help with the removal of room service items from staterooms to designated areas.
- Assist in managing inventory of linens and toiletries, ensuring proper storage of used items.
- Clean corridors, carpets, and change light bulbs as assigned.
- Support fellow crew members in their duties to achieve team goals.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with passengers and colleagues.
- Participate in monthly inventory checks as required.
- Assist in other housekeeping areas, such as laundry or porter duties, as needed.
- Attend all meetings scheduled by the Chief Housekeeper or management.
- Read and adhere to all directives issued by management.
- Participate in USCG mandated drills and emergency procedures.
- Engage in embarking duties such as loading and unloading luggage as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as required to meet operational needs.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Professional Certifications: Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if applicable.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a professional manner.
- Organizational skills to independently plan and complete work assignments.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
Experience: A minimum of two to four years in a similar role is required, with cruise industry experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass mandated USCG physical examinations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a marine environment with varying conditions.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated.
