The Facility Manager is a key position within Covanta, responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operations and maintenance activities at our Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities. Reporting to the Regional Operations Area Manager, this role is a critical position that ensures the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Safety and Environmental Excellence: Provide exemplary leadership to develop and sustain a high-performing culture of safety and environmental excellence, ensuring 100% compliance with all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and permits.
- Operations and Maintenance: Ensure the safe and reliable operation of our facilities, including the planning and execution of outages, maintenance activities, and project planning and execution.
- Financial Performance: Develop and execute facility budgets and forecasts to maximize financial performance, including P&L, EBITDA, and FCF contributions.
- Client Relationships: Serve as the primary Covanta interface for assigned client facilities, exhibiting exceptional customer focus and building strong relationships with clients.
- Lean Mindset: Drive a lean mindset to continuously challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes to increase revenue, decrease costs, and improve production.
- Cultural Change: Drive cultural change, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as permitting agencies and other community organizations.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience at a Waste to Energy/Thermomechanical Treatment Facility and/or utility power generation facility, with at least 5 years of experience in leading facility operations and/or maintenance teams.
- Certifications: ASME CFO (Chief Facility Officer) Certification and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or greater are highly desirable.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, technical, or business field is required, with a Master's Degree preferred.
