Job Overview:
This position involves performing essential unskilled tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the County's outdoor spaces and associated structures and equipment. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Help repair pathways and driveways.
- Mark athletic fields according to established standards.
- Run errands and transport supplies and materials.
- Participate in the planting, cultivating, and care of flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, and turf areas.
- Perform trimming, pruning, and general landscaping tasks including leaf raking and debris removal.
- Conduct litter control and custodial duties for recreational facilities.
- Operate light automotive or power equipment as needed.
- Record hours worked using designated software.
- Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of horticultural tools, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with standard building trade materials and techniques.
- Understanding of safety measures relevant to the position.
- Ability to effectively follow instructions and operate common hand tools and machinery.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the eighth grade and some experience in grounds maintenance work.
