Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant at North Memorial Health will manage the customer flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of their customers. This role requires a collaborative, supportive, and delegated approach, as described in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice. The Medical Assistant will work closely with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet the defined goals of the customer, shift, department, and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with the management of customer flow throughout the clinic. Tasks include standard rooming processes, giving immunizations, injections, and other medications as directed by the provider; and performing laboratory specimen collection as needed. Additional responsibilities may include:
- Providing telephone support
- Facilitating communication between customers and providers
- Assisting with prescription refills
- Performing x-ray duties as assigned if individual has passed the x-ray operator exam
- Performing phlebotomy duties
- Performing clinic laboratory tests
- Front desk/check-in support
- Ordering and stocking supplies
- Assistance with prior authorizations
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, the Medical Assistant must have:
- A high school graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Medical Assistant certification
- Minnesota state license
- Current BLS certification
- Previous experience in a clinical setting
- Passed x-ray operator's examination or willing to take exam according to individual clinic needs
