Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief of Police will serve as the second-in-command of the Maryland Capitol Police, reporting directly to the Chief of Police. This is a senior leadership position that requires a strong background in law enforcement, strategic thinking, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure effective law enforcement operations
  • Oversee the allocation of resources and budget management
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to enhance public safety initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate department performance, identifying areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Represent the agency at public events and meetings
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field
  • 10 years of professional experience in law enforcement, with 5 years at a command level
  • Demonstrated track record of effective leadership and collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively in a geographically diverse and multicultural community
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Police Certification issued by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission
