Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in providing speech and language services to students with speech impairments.

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist will serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility for Special Education services under the disability of speech impairment. You will also serve as a representative of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee to develop appropriate Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students with speech impairments. Additionally, you will provide instructional speech therapy services to eligible students.

Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all federal, state, local, and campus policies, operating procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Review, follow, and maintain evaluative techniques, kits, manuals, etc., as needed.
  • Consult with the campus Principal and staff for scheduling of students for speech and language services.
  • Plan for the implementation of IEP goals and objectives by preparing appropriate instructional materials and planning appropriate instructional activities.
  • Implement the IEP goals and objectives as per the most current ARD recommendation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
  • Work collaboratively and constructively with colleagues and other professionals towards meeting individual student needs.
  • Promote and support an environment which is conducive to positive staff morale and directed towards achievement of the campuses, departments, and district's mission.
  • Take initiative to participate in professional development activities correlated to the child-centered process with emphasis on speech and language issues in order to keep abreast of current techniques, regulations, and to obtain continuing education credits for licensure.
  • Research information to enhance therapeutic methods and/or increased understanding of low-incidence and/or complex cases.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional ethical manner in accordance with generally accepted community standards and comply with State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology code of Ethics.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree and have a TEA teaching certificate.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree, may have TEA teaching certificate, and be licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Hold a Master's Degree and be licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology but have not completed a Clinical Fellowship Year required for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C.).
  • Hold a Master's Degree, hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and be licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress; regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying; may be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
