Recreation Leader

We are seeking a Recreation Leader to join our team at the City of Yucaipa, CA. As a Recreation Leader, you will work directly with students in our S.T.A.R.S. After School Program, assisting in the planning and implementation of student activities.

• Lead and engage students in group settings with academic enrichment activities, homework assistance, and physical activities.
• Administer snacks to students in an organized manner.
• Use attention-getters to maintain students' attention before, during, and after activities.
• Serve as a role model and leader to students.
• Create a safe and positive learning environment for students.
• Support challenging situations in an effective and efficient manner.
• Maintain a clean and orderly site, adhering to State and County safety guidelines.
• Monitor and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Assist with record-keeping and basic clerical functions.
• Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and the general public.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• College-level training is desirable.
• Prior paid job-related experience working with students in a learning situation is highly desirable.

This position offers a flexible schedule, with work schedules typically between 10:45AM - 6:15PM, Monday through Friday, during the academic year. The position may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and academic breaks for trainings and other duties as assigned.

Pending City Council budget approval, pay is $17.00 per hour. Employees in this position average 23 hours per week during the academic year, with a maximum of 950 hours.
