POSITION SUMMARY:
The Culinary Specialist I is responsible for preparing a variety of food orders efficiently and in line with established recipes and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and uphold the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in alignment with our Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Achieve service delivery expectations as outlined by departmental standards or as required by service recipients.
- Ensure all food items prepared meet the established quality specifications and standards prior to serving.
- Facilitate prompt and organized service of menu items to the serving staff.
- Prepare, cook, and season a diverse range of food items.
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Perform essential functions within the preparation and cooking areas.
- Deliver exceptional service to customers and colleagues consistently.
- Ensure uniformity and consistency in every order dispatched.
- Adhere to kitchen maintenance and sanitation protocols.
- Manage food production processes, including proper cooking techniques, times, temperatures, and sanitation practices.
- Prepare for peak service periods without compromising quality.

- Monitor stock levels and organize inventory orders.

- Possess knowledge of Harrah's facilities, promotions, and services.
- Complete assigned tasks, even if it requires overtime.
- Understand and comply with local health and sanitation regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs and temperature records as required.
- Inspect incoming inventory and supplies to ensure they meet quality and quantity standards.
- Properly maintain and store kitchen inventory, including utensils and equipment.
- Collaborate with co-workers in sharing kitchen equipment.
- Calibrate kitchen instruments as necessary.
- Adhere to personal appearance standards.
- Complete daily checklists verified by a supervisor before concluding shifts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the shift leader.
- Follow all regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Prior experience in a high-volume food service environment is preferred, ideally six months to one year.
- Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of kitchen sanitation standards and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and presentation.
- Ability to operate and maintain essential kitchen equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Leadership and motivational capabilities.
- Able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to perform quick mathematical calculations.
- Capacity to handle high-stress situations and convert stress into productive energy.
- Dexterity for using knives and other kitchen tools, as well as food preparation equipment.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull carts weighing up to 300 pounds.
- Capability to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grasp items.
- Physical mobility with reasonable accommodations.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures in the kitchen environment.
- Ability to respond to visual and auditory signals.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Tolerance for varying noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and air quality conditions.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
