Custodian Job Description

The City of Muskogee is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our municipal buildings and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform custodial duties, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors
  • Wash walls, woodwork, and windows
  • Dust furniture and fixtures
  • Empty wastebaskets and trash cans
  • Polish brass, other metals, and fixtures
  • Clean and service restroom dispensers
  • Perform snow removal and debris cleanup
  • Wash windows and clean blinds
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
  • Stock refrigerators as needed
  • Requisition supplies and equipment
  • Respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Good knowledge of manual labor work practices and safety precautions
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to use various tools and custodial equipment
  • Ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with colleagues and the public
Working Environment:

This position requires working indoors and outdoors, with occasional travel within the City. You must be able to work early mornings and/or evenings.
