Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of new admissions and re-admissions to identify skin areas that require treatment.
  • Develop and implement preventative measures to prevent pressure and non-pressure wounds, including specialty mattresses, positioning equipment, and therapy referrals.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to ensure residents receive timely and effective wound care.
  • Provide education to residents and their responsible parties on wound care and prevention.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Participate in wound meetings and other departmental meetings to stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of wound care and treatment plans.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current, valid LPN or RN license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding nursing problems and provide education to residents and staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Knowledge of wound care and prevention principles.
  • Ability to read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures.
