Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipeline Technician to join our team at the City of Danville. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of our water and gas distribution infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain water and gas mains and services, including locates, taps, and repairs.
  • Operate construction equipment, such as skid-steer, excavator, back-hoe, trencher, and pneumatic piercing tools.
  • Drive and operate a dump truck, loading and unloading materials, and driving light vehicles.
  • Perform manual labor, including hand-digging, raking, and pouring concrete.
  • Use mobile technology to access up-to-date information and complete as-build drawings.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, and one to two years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License (CDL-Class A) or ability to obtain with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic familiarity with the work, including common principles and terminology.
Working Conditions

The work is performed outdoors, in vehicles or equipment, where there is daily exposure to noise and vibrations, and to physical hazards. There is occasional exposure to mechanical and fire hazards, physical danger or abuse, and wetness/humidity.
