Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 per year, with a training rate of $34 effective hourly during the initial training period. Additionally, there is a $12,000 sign-on bonus available to qualified candidates.

Job Description

Position Purpose: Food delivery drivers play a critical role in the country's food supply chain. They ensure that customers' products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition. As the face of our company, they build lasting relationships with our customers.

The driver is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products to customers in a safe and timely manner, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations.
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately report all safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices of products loaded.
  • Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure that tractors, trailers, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily records of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
  • Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
