Pediatric Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our team at The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. As a Pediatric Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to children and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to pediatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and provide education to patients and families on disease management and self-care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and effective communication.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Current NY State RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • WHO 20 hour Breastfeeding Course (Women and Children Division) or equivalent training
  • Pediatric Care After Resuscitation (PCAR) certification (preferred)
  • CCRN (Pediatrics) or Pediatric Nursing Certification (preferred)
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (preferred)
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (preferred)
Physical Requirements:

This position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day. The individual in this position may be exposed to adverse indoor environmental conditions, blood-borne pathogens, blood and body fluids, physical hazards, communicable diseases, chemical hazards, radiation, and repetitive motions.

The individual in this position must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients. Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand and eye coordination, are required. Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range are also necessary.

Frequently sitting at a desk working on a computer is required. Ability to flex working hours is also necessary.
