As a Radiation Therapy Specialist at CHI St Vincent Hot Springs, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients to regain their independence and enhance their quality of life, enabling them to engage in their daily activities safely.
In collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals, you will assess patients, perform scans at appropriate levels, and reconstruct images as necessary. Your responsibilities will also include transferring and coordinating to the laser system and marking isocenters.
It is essential to inform and instruct patients about the equipment and procedures to provide reassurance and alleviate any anxiety they may have. You will explain procedures at a level that is understandable to the patient and address their questions within your professional scope of knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine patient positioning as directed by the physician to ensure accessibility, practicality, and reproducibility.
- Document set-up instructions, treatment parameters, and procedures performed in the patient's chart.
- Ensure that all relevant information is available and accurate before commencing any procedure.
- Fabricate individualized immobilization devices to ensure patient comfort and the structural integrity of each device, and assist in the fabrication of other custom devices as directed.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology or possess Radiation Therapy Technology Certification.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (T) certification is required.
- Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist in Arkansas is mandatory.
- Previous experience in acute care is preferred but not essential.
