About the Job

The Texas Military Department is seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist V (Camp Swift) to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing advanced construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform building construction, repair, renovation, and restoration projects.
  • Perform administrative functions required to support the Planning Resources for Infrastructure Development and Evaluation (PRIDE) data base work order system.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, or inspection work on electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning (HVAC) to include installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect structures, evaluate work performed, and determine the best method for performing maintenance and repair work.
  • Inspect equipment, machinery, systems, building accessories, and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
  • Examine and interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Maintain and repair doors, locks, panic hardware, hinges, frames, automatic door devices, tracks, springs, and closures.
  • Maintain and repair electrical outlets, control panels, switches, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of equipment.
  • Identify defects in wiring, circuit breakers, fuses, switches, sockets, and other elements.
  • Maintain records of material used, calculate materials, and provide material lists to supervisor for procurement.
  • Repair or oversee repair to electronic equipment.
  • Coordinate and perform workshop operations to fabricate specialized items needed for project work.
  • Perform welding, brazing, or soldering operations to reconstruct or fabricate metalwork.
  • Oversee the work of others.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Four years of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work is required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Vocational training in a designated trade is preferred.
  • Experience performing electrical, (HVAC), plumbing maintenance, and millwright maintenance is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A satisfactory driving record is required to drive state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.
  • Electrical, (HVAC), or plumbing certification is preferred.
