POSITION OVERVIEW
The Metallurgical Engineer is responsible for managing the operations of the Metal and Sand laboratories, ensuring that all required assessments are performed to guarantee that the produced iron complies with relevant standards. This role also involves providing technical assistance in the evaluation of quality concerns, enhancements in processes, and various specialized initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Fostering a culture of safety, promoting accident prevention, and encouraging employee participation in maintaining a secure work environment. Ensures that all personnel are aware of the organization's safety standards.
- Upholding the company's culture, mission, vision, and core values, which includes adherence to safety principles, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies.
- Possessing expertise in laboratory equipment such as Spectrometers, Tensile Testing Machines, Carbon Sulfur Analyzers, and various other testing devices.
- Supervising laboratory testing methodologies and ensuring proper documentation of tests.
- Exhibiting strong analytical and communication abilities.
- Engaging in technical writing.
- Ensuring that all technical specifications are within defined limits or taking necessary corrective actions to maintain product quality.
- Verifying that testing procedures and equipment align with applicable ASTM standards.
- Confirming that the final product meets customer requirements.
- Analyzing casting defects and proposing recommendations for process enhancements.
- Investigating quality issues related to metallurgical or sand processes and suggesting corrective measures.
- Conducting various research initiatives in areas such as technical advancements, process optimization, and reduction of variability.
- Providing technical guidance to production staff and offering specific recommendations for process improvements to meet quality standards.
- Assisting in the management of various quality systems, including ISO, BNQ, NF, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution is required. A minimum of three years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of the chemical and structural composition of ferrous iron, is preferred. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and strong teamwork skills are advantageous.
