Role and Team

As an Auto Mechanic, you will report to the Mechanical Services Manager or designated manager. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnostic and Repair Services
    • Perform proper diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles as assigned.
    • Maintain consistently high standards on quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Vehicle Systems
    • A/C & Heater: Operate the system, recognize cooling or heating issues, perform basic system checks, and identify Freon and oil leaks.
    • Brakes: Identify brake system components, visually inspect brakes, identify irregular noises and leaks, perform simple system tests, measure lining, drums, rotors, and cams, and road test for proper operation.
    • Electrical Charging Systems: Visually inspect batteries, clean connections, check belt condition, test batteries, check alternator mounting and pulley, replace and adjust belts, and perform basic charging system checks.
    • Cooling Systems: Check and adjust coolant levels, antifreeze requirements, visually inspect systems for leaks, make minor repairs, and pressure test.
    • Electrical Cranking System: Inspect/test batteries, cables, and motor, clean battery cables and connections, check, charge, and replace batteries, repair/replace defective cables, and read wiring schematics.
    • Lighting System and Electrical Accessories: Repair minor wiring problems, replace bulbs, lenses, and simple light assemblies, adjust/replace sealed beams, and install/replace accessories.
    • Drive Axles: Inspect housings for leaks, change oil and filter, and clean breathers.
    • Driveline: Lubricate drive line, inspect components for wear or damage.
    • Gas Engines: Check and adjust oil levels, identify unusual noises and oil leaks.
    • Fuel Systems: Replace and prime fuel filters, check gas and diesel fuel system components for proper integrity and condition.
    • Preventive Maintenance: Perform proper lube techniques, minimal tire inspection, brake check/applied stroke, battery check, under vehicle check/lose components, and initial fault code identification.
    • Tire and Wheel Maintenance: Perform air pressure checks, check tread depth, identify tires that need to be changed or repaired, perform tire checks, replace tire and wheel assemblies, mount/dismount, and rotate tires.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
