Position Overview

Are you ready to take your career to the next level with a leading company in the manufacturing sector? As a Lathe Setup Machinist III, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our production capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality components based on technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Interpret G-Code programming to set up and operate CNC lathes effectively.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of speeds and feeds while ensuring proper alignment and securing of fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling into tool posts or indexing heads as required.
  • Monitor numerical displays on control panels and verify dimensional adjustments against print specifications.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards set by the Quality Department.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment following 5S principles and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Handle the loading and unloading of raw materials or components into machining centers.
  • Calculate complex angles and dimensions as necessary.
  • Utilize digital measurement tools to ensure precision and accuracy in all machining operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of machining experience with a solid understanding of G-Code.
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Fanuc Controls is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a CNC lathe machinist, particularly with multi-axis lathes.
  • Ability to maintain strict tolerances and proficiently read blueprints while using digital measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with basic shop mathematics and GD&T principles.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in an AS9100 certified environment is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with DMG Mori, Grob, Okuma, or Makino machinery.
  • Experience working with high-temperature alloys, such as Inconel and Monel.
  • Relevant machining certifications, such as CNC Turning Specialist.
  • Foundational GD&T certification in accordance with ASME Y standards.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, Yellow Belt or higher.
  • Experience with automation in manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam, particularly versions 2023 or newer.
