Fiberglass Technician

Job Overview:

Merritt Precision, a leading manufacturer of sophisticated molds for the marine, automotive, and aerospace industries, seeks an experienced Fiberglass Technician to join our team in Sweetwater, TN. As a valued member of our production team, you will play a critical role in creating high-quality molds that meet the highest standards of excellence.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform tasks under time-sensitive deadlines to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Identify and correct imperfections in gel-coat to maintain high-quality finishes.
• Sand/Buff areas as needed to achieve smooth surfaces.
• Repair fiberglass molds and tooling using specialty gelcoats, buffing with wax, polish, compound, fillers, putty, and/or paste.
• Operate hand tools, including gel-coat spray equipment, drill, buffer, die grinder, polishing compounds, orbital sanders, or other specialty tools.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.
• Must be able to wear proper safety equipment when necessary.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Experienced working with Fiberglass.
• Experienced working with hand and power tools.
• Able to squat, climb, bend, etc., as needed.
• Experienced using an Orbital Sander.
