Job Summary

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist PRN to join our team. As a Radiology Technologist PRN, you will be responsible for performing a variety of radiologic examinations, including positioning patients, selecting exposure factors, and providing patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Imaging Expertise: Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
  • Patient Communication: Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Exposure Factor Selection: Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Diagnostic Imaging Requests: Reviews all diagnostic imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are communicated to the radiologists for final approval.
  • Verbal Orders: Takes verbal orders from providers as needed and enters appropriately in RIS system.
  • Record Keeping: Prepares and maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Collaboration: Assists, communicates, and consults with the Radiologists. Works independently outside the department with providers.
  • Patient Observation: Observes patient during radiologic exam for change in status and makes appropriate intervention or contacts primary care givers for instruction.
  • Mentorship: Provides guidance, direction, and mentoring for other personnel that may be assigned to the area in which they are working, including student radiographers. Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
  • Supply and Equipment Management: Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Continuing Education: Maintains all required continuing education and applicable certifications for modality.
Requirements
  • Education: Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate. Graduate of a JRCERT approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification: ARRT Registered or Registry eligible through the ARRT.
  • ARRT Requirement: ARRT required in accordance with Work Instruction EMP 8.
