Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Sigma Healthcare staffing is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at a hospital in Dover, NH. This 12-week contract position offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job Summary:

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities. Your expertise will be essential in setting up and operating devices, providing emergency care, and monitoring patient responses to therapy.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified treatment parameters.
  • Provide emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Determine treatment requirements, including type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages.
  • Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, and consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur.
  • Perform pulmonary function tests and adjust equipment to obtain optimal results in therapy.
  • Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist or instruct patients in breathing exercises.
  • Conduct tests, such as EKGs, stress testing, and lung capacity tests.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions and teach disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.
  • Maintain patient charts, including pertinent identification and therapy information, in a neat and timely fashion.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited RT program.
  • Current RT license, in good standing with the State licensing board.
  • Minimum of two (2) years RT experience in a hospital setting.
  • NH state RRT/RCP License Required.
  • Current BLS.
  • NRP Required.
