Job Summary

The Cardiac Catheterization Technician is responsible for performing a variety of technical and supportive care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures.

About the Role

As a Cardiac Catheterization Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of the physician to ensure the safe and effective performance of cardiac catheterization procedures. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for procedures, setting up equipment, and assisting the physician during the procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures by attaching EKG electrodes and performing prep and drape of the patient.
  • Collect and analyze samples of blood and timed expired air, and calculate certain hemodynamic data.
  • Assist the physician in placement of cardiac catheter and monitor patient reaction to procedures.
  • Monitor EKG and pressure readings, and maintain record of protocol and operate defibrillator.
  • Provide assistance as needed during patient emergencies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a completion of a cardiac catheterization technician program of study combining academic work and clinical training or equivalent combination of experience and/or education. You will also need to have at least one year of experience as a cardiac catheterization technician in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, and current CPR certification.
