Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Houston Methodist. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and surgical assistants during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare operating rooms for procedures, including setting up equipment and supplies, and ensuring that all necessary materials are available.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care, including communicating with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in departmental projects and shared governance activities, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that promote excellence in patient care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical terminology, surgical procedures, and equipment, and maintain a high level of proficiency in sterile technique and decontamination procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency preferred.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification also required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
