Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem Dietitian to join our team. As a Per Diem Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in promoting good dietary health and treating medical conditions by devising eating plans for patients based on the science of nutrition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help patients come to terms with their illnesses and develop personalized nutrition plans to achieve their health and nutrition goals.
  • Make educational presentations and write patient progress reports to ensure effective communication and monitoring of patient progress.
  • Meet directly with patients to identify nutritional needs and make recommendations to improve care.
  • Evaluate the effects of meal plans and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in nutritional science and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
  • Manage food budgets and schedules appointments to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures to safeguard University assets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as nutrition or dietetics.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty or field, such as registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Department Addendum

The Executive Health Department provides convenient and personalized attention to patients in our care. As a Per Diem Dietitian, you will build long-term relationships with our patients and play a crucial role in helping them achieve and maintain their health and nutrition goals.

  • Complete nutrition assessments and develop personalized nutrition plans for patients.
  • Provide ongoing support to patients to ensure they achieve their health and nutrition goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in nutrition and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
  • Collaborate with Exercise Physiologists to design and develop nutrition education programs and services.
  • Actively assess, evaluate, and maintain professional development, competency, and licensure as outlined in the position description.
  • Be willing to travel/float between sites as needed.
