Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Research Assistant to support our payroll team in ensuring accurate and up-to-date tax compliance. This role is critical in resolving outstanding tax issues and maintaining our tax accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Notice Research: Investigate tax notices by accessing online resources or contacting state and local agencies to gather required information.
- Account Management: Assist in cleaning up old tax accounts and ensuring they are correctly registered, including those for both the US and Canada.
- Filing Missing Returns: Research and confirm whether missing tax returns have been filed and determine the appropriate steps to file missing returns, including any penalties or zero returns.
- Access Issues: Help resolve access problems for online tax accounts by contacting agencies to update administrator information and remove outdated contacts.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with tax processes within payroll is required.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with state and local agencies.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
