We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples using appropriate phlebotomy techniques and follow all policies related to handling of blood specimens.
- Recognize factors that affect specimen collection procedures and test results, such as specific patient indicators, order of draw, and timed specimens.
- Rotate to outpatient labs as needed and carry a hospital pager to respond to department needs.
- Perform miscellaneous computer duties as assigned and maintain equipment and work area in a clean manner.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program or equivalent required.
- Current certification in one of the following: AMT (American Medical Technologist), ASCP (American Soc of Clinical Pathologists), NCPT (National Soc of Certified Phlebotomy Technicians), or NCCT (Nat'l Center for Competency Testing).
- A minimum of 3 months inpatient phlebotomy or working experience in a medical or health industry.
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of work hours. The working environment includes frequent interruptions and potential exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous waste, and chemicals.
