JOB TITLE: PRESS OPERATOR


SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup and operate presses utilizing closed forging dies.
  • Comprehend the operation of all presses and related equipment.
  • Adhere to press safety protocols.
  • Operate and configure induction furnaces.
  • Manage gas and electric slot and rotary furnaces.
  • Follow all relevant ISO procedures.
  • Achieve production standards consistently.
  • Ensure dies are aligned and make necessary adjustments for optimal operation.
  • Monitor the quality of forgings for defects or issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area at the end of each shift.
  • Perform daily tasks safely and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Assist in training new personnel as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor of any tooling or equipment malfunctions.
  • Control the operation of the forging furnace and manage heating equipment.
  • Execute all required re-strikes.
  • Utilize calipers accurately.
  • Possess knowledge of basic metal flow and die design principles.
  • Understand the unique characteristics of various metals.
  • Have a foundational understanding of press preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Capable of operating all presses.
  • Visually verify match accuracy.
  • Edge bars as required.
  • Familiar with ISO procedures.
  • Manage scale control effectively.
  • Complete paperwork accurately.
  • Utilize tongs properly.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
