As a full-time Certified Surgical Technician, your schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a rotating day off each week. This rotation allows for a 4-day weekend every four weeks, as you will have Fridays and Mondays off. Additionally, some on-call duties are expected, typically 2-3 days per month, including one weekend call every 6-8 weeks.
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and success of surgical procedures. This position requires a thorough understanding of the surgical process and the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs. The technician must possess the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain quality patient care throughout the operation while vigilantly upholding the sterile environment.
What qualifications are necessary? Candidates must be graduates of an accredited surgical technology program. Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) is required upon hire, along with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Is prior experience necessary? No prior experience is required for this position.
Essential Knowledge and Skills: Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and competency in current surgical and sterile techniques that are specific to the unit and patient age group.
