Construction Estimation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at MasTec Civil, LLC.
SalaryThe estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $145,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Job DescriptionCompany Overview

Responsibilities
- Understand bid items, basis of estimate, and skills to identify errors and discrepancies in plans and specifications.
- Read and understand plans, specifications, request for proposal, request for information, addendums, technical special provisions, etc.
- Build green sheet estimates, breakdown activity structure, construction schedules, and risk matrix analysis.
- Create job budgets for awarded contracts.
- Develop bid strategies, cost savings initiatives, and management skills.
- Perform accurate and timely quantity takeoffs.
- Capable of individually estimating entire jobs.
- Study and review all estimating reports: equipment total hours, labor total hours, key indicators, equipment balance analysis, etc.
- Constantly review updated FDOT Standards and Specifications.
- Full review of bid submittal packages and lead estimating discussions with company executives.
- Obtain clarifications on plans and specifications from owners or engineers of record.
- Coordinate and invite suppliers and subcontractors to quote different scopes of work.
- Analyze suppliers and subcontractor pricing input when required.
- Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships.
- Have a complete understanding of unit cost analysis.
- Assist with pre-bid meetings and bid submittals.
- Keep up-to-date information regarding commodity trade prices.
- Stay current with construction technologies and techniques.
- Maintain continuous education in construction, including attending engineering conventions and forums.
- Communicate with field personnel to track and adjust as necessary unit costs.
Requirements
- Minimum 13 years of experience in Heavy Civil construction.
- Location: Florida.
- B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree.

- Possess good organization skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have knowledge in bridge and roadway construction.
- Savvy in foundations, concrete structures, temporary structural systems, underground and utility work, earthwork, signalization, roadway lighting and signing, intelligent transportation systems, safety standards, etc.
- Knowledgeable in design-build and design-bid-build contracts with FDOT and Turnpike Enterprises.
- Teaching and mentoring skills.

- 30-Hour OSHA training.

- Scheduling software, P6 Primavera.
