General Surgeon Opportunity in a Small, Rural Hospital

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Surgeon to join our team at Springfield Hospital in rural Vermont. As a solo coverage specialist, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and provide high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role:

  • This is a 4-day work week position, Monday through Thursday, with 10 days of call per month.
  • You will be responsible for performing bread-and-butter cases, including gall bladder, hernia, and upper and lower GI Endoscopy procedures (approximately 100 per month).
  • The hospital does not have a pediatrician on site, so no pediatric cases will be assigned.

Work Schedule and Support Staff:

  • Your schedule will include Mondays: OR, Tuesdays: GI-Endo, Wednesdays: OR or GI-Endo, and Thursdays: Clinic.
  • You will be supported by a Medical Assistant in the clinic and an RN in the OR and GI-Endo.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • You must be Board Eligible (within 5 years) or Board Certified in General Surgery.
  • A valid VT license (or willingness to obtain) is required.
  • You will also need a DEA and ATLS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • At least one year of employment experience as a General Surgeon is preferred.
  • Respond to the hospital within one hour when on call, and respond to pages within 15 minutes.
  • You must already live in or relocate within the designated radius.

Benefits Package:

  • We offer a base salary based on training and experience, wRVU, sign-on bonus negotiable, relocation reimbursement (approximately $***-20K depending on the distance of the move), and compensation for on-call days worked over the required 10/month at *** per day.
