Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Float Pool RN, you will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient needs.
  • Triangulate and consult with patients, families, and significant others, communicating effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Prepare and room patients for exams, obtaining vital signs and documenting pertinent health information.
  • Perform laboratory procedures, assist with procedures and surgeries, and administer medications under physician orders.
  • Assess and provide patient education, counseling, and health promotion, integrating preventive aspects of care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of staff orientation, competency, and educational activities, serving as a clinical and departmental resource.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make critical, independent decisions.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation, and electronic medical records systems.
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above shoulders throughout the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. You will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids, and will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
