About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Med Surg Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. As a member of our healthcare family, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Experience in an acute care setting in Pediatrics - preferred
  • 2 years of previous experience as Staff Registered Nurse (RN) - preferred
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy
