Job Summary

TKDA is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer - Traffic Design Specialist to join our Surface Transportation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading traffic-related design and plan development, conducting analyses using simulation and modeling software, and collaborating with engineers, designers, and technicians to generate safe and efficient designs for complex transportation infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement traffic design plans and specifications for roundabouts, traffic signals, construction staging, maintenance of traffic, signing, striping, and lighting.
  • Conduct traffic operations analysis, forecasting, and modeling to optimize transportation systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure design and plan development meet client needs and expectations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in traffic design and operations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in traffic design and operations.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Strong working knowledge of CADD software and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PTOE Certification or interest in attaining PTOE Certification.
  • Previous experience in design-build projects and project management.
  • Working knowledge of traffic analysis software and experience with traffic operations analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
