Position Overview

Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Maternal-Fetal Imaging Specialist to join our esteemed team.

Role Responsibilities
  • Specialty: Maternal-Fetal Imaging

Key Duties:

  • Conducts comprehensive obstetric and pelvic ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to genetic screenings, basic fetal echocardiography, and amniocentesis.
  • Utilizes appropriate transducers and technical settings to ensure precision in ultrasound diagnostics, employing advanced techniques when necessary.
  • Reviews patient medical histories and collaborates with patients to gather essential information prior to examinations.
  • Maintains and calibrates ultrasound equipment, and evaluates new technologies for potential integration into practice.
  • Engages in quality assurance initiatives and meticulously documents ultrasound procedures for accurate billing and patient records.
  • Provides clinical training to sonography students and medical professionals in the OB/GYN field.
  • Assists with patient positioning and transportation, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of patient care across various age groups, ensuring tailored assessments and interventions.


Qualifications:

  • Must obtain Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen and OB/GYN within one year of employment.
  • Fetal Echocardiography registration and Nuchal Translucency credential must be acquired within specified timeframes.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months unless exempted by leadership.


Educational Background:

  • Completion of an accredited Sonography program beyond high school is mandatory.


Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.


Essential Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of fetal abnormalities and diagnostic techniques.
  • Proficient in performing detailed scans and distinguishing between normal and abnormal anatomical structures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment effectively.
  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks such as lifting and transporting patients.
  • Must possess clear speech, vision, and hearing capabilities.
