Job Summary

California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy operations and assisting pharmacists in preparing prescriptions and maintaining records and inventories of drugs, poisons, and narcotics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing prescriptions and maintaining records and inventories of drugs, poisons, and narcotics.
  • Perform basic services in a pharmacy and technical duties that do not require licensure.
  • Maintain pharmacy operations and assist pharmacists in preparing prescriptions and maintaining records and inventories of drugs, poisons, and narcotics.
  • Work under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist II.
  • May work around inmates of a correctional facility.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician issued by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Either one year of clerical work experience in a pharmacy relieving a pharmacist of clerical or subprofessional duties, or completion of an academic curriculum and formal on-the-job training program for Pharmacy Technician.
  • Registration requirements shall not apply during the first year of employment for a person employed or utilized as a Pharmacy Technician to assist in the filling of prescriptions for an inmate of a correctional facility of the State Departments of Youth Authority or Corrections, or for a person receiving treatment in a facility operated by the State Department of Veterans Affairs.
