Job Summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at a correctional facility in California. As a Recreational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic interventions to patients-inmates and youth, promoting social interaction, and encouraging beneficial use of leisure time.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to meet the needs of patients-inmates and youth.
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel.
  • Evaluate recreation therapy needs for patients-inmates and youth, with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.

Requirements
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
  • Ability to work in a correctional facility setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement therapeutic interventions
