Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Firefighter (Hazmat Technician) to join our team at Commander, Navy Installations. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for providing fire protection and emergency medical services to our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, including airfield firefighting and hazardous materials response.
  • Operate a variety of firefighting equipment, including fire trucks and emergency medical vehicles.
  • Combat fires and rescue personnel on board ships in emergency situations.
  • Perform non-invasive emergency medical procedures and provide patient care.
  • Efficiently locate fire control rooms and activate/deactivate fire suppression systems aboard ships.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Performing rescue operations.
    • Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards.
    • Performing standby duty during aircraft engine testing, welding, and ammunition handling.
    • Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures.
    • Efficiently locating fire control rooms and activating/deactivating fire suppression systems aboard ships.
  • Certifications:
    • Firefighter I/II.
    • Airport Firefighter.
    • HAZMAT Technician.
    • Apparatus Driver-Operator Pumper.
    • Apparatus Driver-Operator ARFF.
    • Nationally Registered EMT-Basic (NREMT).
Working Conditions

The duties of this position are physically demanding and require a physically able employee. Ability to lift and move heavy objects. Must be able to wear protective clothing, such as firefighter ensembles weighing 50-60 pounds. Climbs ladders and works at various heights. The work requires above average agility and dexterity.

What We Offer
  • Relocation incentive of 25% of total salary for 4 years with a 4-year service agreement.
