At After School Matters, we are seeking a dedicated Computer Science Instructor to teach content area-specific programs for high school participants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science and the ability to effectively communicate with teenagers.
The instructor will expose teens to various facets of the computer science industry while fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative atmosphere for all teen participants. They will maintain knowledge of current industry trends, technology, and concepts, and prepare weekly lessons that align with curriculum.
The program will allow teens to learn and engage in activities specific to computer science and an introduction to AI tools. Through a series of program sessions, participants will explore various AI algorithms and systems, develop critical thinking skills, and gain hands-on experience with AI technologies.
The instructor will also be responsible for supervising teens, managing operational pieces such as program planning and budget creation, and recruiting, teaching, and mentoring teen program participants. They will participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process of teen program participants, and manage and track program activities such as attendance, interview outcomes, enrollment, evaluation surveys, and pertinent student records in an online data tracking system (CitySpan).
