Job Summary

The Sacramento County CA is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sanitation Worker to join our team in the Environmental Services department. As a Sanitation Worker, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our community by collecting and disposing of refuse in a responsible and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and dispose of refuse in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operate heavy equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
  • Perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License, Class C or higher
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and push/pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain a valid California Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher
Working Conditions
  • Work outside in all types of climatic conditions, including inclement and very hot weather
  • Work around dust, dirt, odors, and refuse
  • Work in loud or noisy areas
  • Work around machinery and equipment with moving parts
  • Work in enclosed tight spaces
Probationary Period

The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
