Bayhealth is seeking a Collegiate Nursing Care Technician to join our team. This role is designed for student nurses in an accredited Nursing Program who have successfully completed at least one semester of a medical/surgical clinical rotation.
Job Summary:The Collegiate Nursing Care Technician position provides exposure and experience in an acute care setting in preparation for a career as a professional nurse. The role involves basic patient care, vital signs, blood glucose testing, hygiene, assistance with ADL's and comfort measures working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:- Follows plan of care established by the Registered Nurse within a specified timeframe, including mouth care, bathing, AM and PM care, assistance with ambulation, transfers to chair and/or bed, taking and documenting vital signs, and recording accurate intake and output.
- Performs duties such as non-sterile dressing changes, wound irrigation, foley catheter irrigation, application of ace wraps, IV access removal, bladder scans, EKG's, and the application of telemetry monitoring under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Communicates relevant patient information to a professional nurse within appropriate time based on level of urgency and reports problems immediately to a professional nurse.
- Assists other members of the nursing team and/or ancillary departments as requested.
- Education: Associate Degree
- Credential(s): Basic Life Support
- Experience: Completion of one semester of Medical Surgical Clinical
