Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Buyer at Electro-Mechanical, you will be responsible for purchasing assigned materials for our relevant division, ensuring maximum value for the company. This includes establishing vendor relationships and contacts to minimize inventory levels while meeting shop requirements.

You will take a leadership role in representing the purchasing department to management in resolving purchasing-related issues. Additionally, you will coordinate with other company buyers and be responsible for the information reported and obtained during the daily EMMS walkabout boards.

Other key responsibilities include processing all Production Change Notices (PCNs) in a timely and accurate manner, attending weekly Production Meetings, and working on timely resolutions of any action items assigned to purchasing.

Relationships and Travel:

This position involves external contact with vendors on price and delivery, as well as internal contact with all departments within the division on parts, equipment, and expenditure issues. Travel may be required as needed by the company.

Education and Experience:

A four-year degree in Business or a related field is required, along with 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Special skills include understanding of electrical products and components, as well as knowledge of purchasing theory and negotiation principles.

Primary Accountability:

As a Senior Buyer, you will be accountable for comprehending and following procedures, standard practice instructions, prints, diagrams, and other written and verbal instructions. You will prioritize and act on daily supply issues, expedite backorders and long lead time parts to ensure delivery dates are met, and participate in cost-saving projects or submit individual cost-saving suggestions equal to or greater than annual salary.

You will also review material requirements planning reports (MRPs) at a minimum of once a week, assist with special work assignments as assigned by the Director of Purchasing, and maintain regular and timely attendance, work efficiently, and work overtime when required to support the continuous manufacturing process.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are essential for this role. You will also need excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software is also required.
