Job Title: Veterinary Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Pathologist to join our team at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL). As a Veterinary Pathologist, you will play a critical role in conducting examinations of carcasses, gross specimens, microscopic glass, and digital slides to determine the cause of disease in avian and mammalian species.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct digital histopathology and gross necropsy examinations of avian and mammalian species to determine the cause of disease.
  • Enter necropsy and histopathology results into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
  • Coordinate multi-assigned cases to ensure consistency and appropriate interpretation of test results.
  • Communicate with TVMDL clients via telephone, email, and in person to gather clinical history, clarify requests, discuss and interpret results, make recommendations, and address other issues related to case management.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence and compliance with the TVMDL Quality Assurance Manual and associated quality assurance procedures.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from a veterinary college accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
  • Texas veterinary license or eligibility to sit for the Texas special licensure examination.
  • Completion of a formal pathology residency program / eligible to sit for the board examination of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV).
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of animal diseases.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS, PhD in a related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Board certification from ACVP or ACPV.
  • Texas veterinary license.
  • Interest in poultry diagnostics and knowledge of the commercial poultry industry.
  • Experience in diagnostics, poultry diagnostics and anatomic pathology.
