Position Overview

As a Gas Distribution Engineer, you will leverage engineering principles to design and implement distribution systems in a safe, efficient, and practical manner. You will oversee projects during field installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination for gas distribution facility installations.
  • Evaluate load and pressure requirements, future growth, and other variables during the design phase.
  • Supervise the layout, sizing, and specification of pipeline equipment, ensuring economic justifications and providing indirect supervision when teamwork is necessary.
  • Create engineering drawings and effectively communicate design specifications to field personnel and contractors.
  • Perform pressure and cathodic protection studies for distribution systems.
  • Maintain external contacts to ensure availability of materials, supplies, and information, and facilitate communication with external sources, agencies, and local utilities regarding line locations and planned projects.
  • Prepare economic justifications for proposed projects to assist management in evaluating capital investments, including budget items and completion reports for specific construction projects.
  • Review completed work orders and cost data to ensure compliance with plans and the acceptability of construction charges, updating estimated unit prices as necessary.
  • Assist in evaluating system operations and troubleshooting issues.
Educational Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or another approved engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of experience in gas engineering, operations, utility design, or related project construction design is required.
