Job Summary

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Trinity Health Michigan, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an acute care setting. Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will render professional respiratory care to patients, utilizing the order communication system and supporting medical care as directed by medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Orient patients to their treatments and develop measurable respiratory goals for each patient, taking into account their level of growth, development, and understanding.
  • Assess, administer, monitor, and evaluate aerosolized medication treatments, aerosol and humidification therapies, and oxygen therapies for patients of all ages.
  • Perform bronchial hygiene airway suctioning techniques and respond to CODE BLUE calls, providing basic life support maneuvers and assisting with intubation, ventilation, and transport.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assembling and operating ventilators for neonates, children, and adults, and maintain, monitor, and adjust continuous life support to ensure proper function and therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Draw arterial blood gases, review results, and direct them to the attention of the physician, monitoring respiratory parameters as indicated.
  • Perform other related duties, such as chest physiotherapy, sputum collection, and PPD testing.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Current BLS certification and ACLS certification.
  • RRT certificate credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Orientation training in an acute care setting.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
