Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing door-to-door transportation of Little City participants. The driver will operate agency vehicles safely and efficiently, following protocols for routine vehicle checks and care. The driver will also report any participant safety, mechanical or operational problems, and complete any required documentation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The driver will transport participants by picking up, transporting, and dropping off at their scheduled location. The driver will also assist participants with getting in and out of the vehicle as needed, act in a professional manner, and maintain confidentiality. The driver will maintain transportation logs and records according to established policies and procedures, and operate vehicles safely, including observing speed limits and local traffic regulations.


Qualifications:

The driver must have a high school graduate or GED certificate, a valid Illinois driver's license, and a minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The driver must also meet the insurance requirements per Little City policy and have a driving record in good standing in order to be PACE qualified.


Work Environment:

The driver will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The driver will occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend, and will be required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
