Job Title:

Adjunct Faculty - Clinical Laboratory Science

Job Summary:

The Joan M. Lafleur College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to teach Blood Bank in the Clinical Laboratory Science Program as Adjunct Faculty. Under the direction of the Department Chair and the Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty will be responsible for conducting lectures, supervising laboratory work, grading assignments and examinations, and providing support to students in the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver lectures on assigned topics
  • Provide mentorship, advising and guidance to students in the classroom setting
  • Grade student assignments, examinations and respond to student emails and issues in a timely manner
  • Supervise laboratory work and provide guidance to students
  • Conduct student evaluations and provide feedback to students
  • Develop course materials and syllabi in accordance with college guidelines
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in departmental and college-wide activities as schedule permits
  • Attend/complete required trainings
  • Adhere to college policies and procedures
  • Stay updated on the latest research, news, and developments in the field
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science from an approved program, a master's degree and or appropriate certification in the required field
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP preferred) and three years' experience in the area they will be teaching
  • Valid Texas Driver's License preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience teaching in a college or university setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, ExamSoft or similar platforms
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies
Work Environment:
  • Limited standing and/or walking
  • Handling light weight objects
  • Using or carrying equipment
