This position is based in our Playa Vista office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Assembly: Compile motion capture data into cohesive animation sequences tailored to project specifications, ensuring fluid transitions between movements.
- Data Processing: Handle raw motion capture data, utilizing specialized software tools to clean, enhance, and improve the quality of motion data.
- Quality Assurance: Perform comprehensive quality assessments on assembled motion capture assets to detect and rectify issues such as clipping, jittering, or unnatural movements.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with motion capture technicians, animators, and other team members to guarantee the smooth integration of motion capture data into the game engine.
- Data Optimization: Refine motion capture data to align with performance and memory limitations while maintaining visual quality and animation integrity.
- Documentation: Keep thorough records of motion capture processes, methodologies, and asset specifications to support efficient workflows and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Technical Problem Solving: Address technical challenges associated with motion capture data processing, assembly, and integration, offering creative solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Continuous Learning: Remain informed about industry trends, advancements in motion capture technology, and best practices in animation production to consistently improve our motion capture pipeline.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Animation, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in motion capture data processing software such as MotionBuilder, Blade, or similar applications.
- Solid understanding of animation principles, human anatomy, and biomechanics.
- Experience with 3D animation software like Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and tool development is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a group setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards while adhering to project timelines.
- A passion for video games and a commitment to contributing to the development of immersive and engaging gaming experiences.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine is a plus, but not mandatory.
