Materials Handler

We are seeking a Materials Handler to perform routine loading and unloading of materials within our yard or work site. As a Materials Handler, you will be responsible for assembling load packages into trucks for delivery to customer job sites.

• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trucks, or customer vehicles, ensuring safe transit and preventing damage.
• Performs load-building duties, determining optimal weight, composition, and placement of loads based on customer orders and vehicle capacity.
• Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine materials to be moved or loaded.
• Conveys materials using hand trucks, electric dollies, forklifts, or other devices, maintaining a safe working environment.
• Opens containers, units, slings, and loads using steel cutters, crowbars, claw-hammers, or other tools.
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers for accurate identification.

• A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three (3) months experience performing similar tasks; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift certification is required.
• The ability to read and write to handle work orders and labeling tasks.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to use simple hand tools.
• Knowledge of safety procedures while performing forklift driving and materials handling tasks.

This position requires working in a production or yard environment with varying temperatures, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, equipment noise, and dust. You must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 80 pounds. Specific tasks may involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.

Estimated annual salary: $45,000 - $55,000, depending on location and experience.
