About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Legislative Caseworker to join our team in Richland, Washington.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will serve as a liaison to the federal government on behalf of our constituents, handling a portfolio of issue areas including Agriculture, Immigration, and Veteran's Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for individual constituent concerns with federal government entities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files on all assigned casework matters.
  • Prepare and manage incoming and outgoing correspondence in assigned areas of expertise.
  • Monitor and update senior staff on casework trends.
  • Identify opportunities to cultivate relationships with local organizations and key constituent groups.
  • Actively build working relationships with private and governmental agencies, advocacy organizations, major employers, universities, and colleges.
  • Attend town hall meetings, mobile office hours, and speak with local groups on behalf of our Member and other staff.
  • Handle other duties as assigned by the Congressman, Chief of Staff, and/or Deputy Chief of Staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in government, political science, social work, or related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Experience in an agency related to casework is preferred.
  • A demonstrated interest in public service.
  • Working knowledge of Central Washington.
  • Experience with military and/or veterans issues is desirable.

What We Offer

An estimated salary of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet one of the following residency requirements within the continental United States:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B)
  • Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible
  • Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law)
